I am Chala Joy Atienza Dela Viña,but, how did I get here today? I asked my grandparents about the history of our family. I have a great grandfather named Pedro Marin who was a barber and farmer. He had his wife, Rosamina who was also from Macabebe, Pampanga. They had children and one of those is Pacencia. The woman who became the wife of Vicente and Maria's son. He was Florentino Parole Atienza, an electrician in Manila. Lolo Tino and Lola Paseng had six children. The eldest son is my grandfather- Edilberto Atienza, also an electrician.
Felipe and Feliciana de Vega had two children- one of them is Aurora who's the wife of Inocencio atienza from Indang, Cavite-a farmer. They had three children. Lola Aurora died when Florencia was still young. She is my grandmother. Lola Flor and Lolo Eddie met in a carnival in Naic when Lolo Eddie was working there. They had children- two girls and six boys. The eldest daughter is my mother- Jannet Atienza- Dela Viña.
In my father's side- this is what had happened. Magdalena and Jose Libunao from Pangasinan were both Ilocano. They had children, one is my grandmother-Leonora. Her husband is Lino Dela Viña from Calamba, Laguna. He has been the treasurer of their barangay for many years. Their eldest son is Isidro who has the same name with his grandfather.
My father and mother met in Manila. That was, when my mother took care of my cousin. My father followed my mother in Naic- her hometown. After one year, they got married and have me and my other two siblings.Actually, all of my great grandfathers fought in the Japanese war before. The housewives were just in their houses, some were selling in the market or had a store. Our family consists of hardworking parents and had simple lives. Though, I love it!
